JUST A LOT OF WORDS IN MY HEAD ~~ new poetry by Rochelle Carr
“Just a lot of words in my head
Place them on the shelf, she said,
Then, I’ll go to bed.”
“Just a lot of letters in my head
I’d like to write them down in red, she said.
Just a lot of words in my head
Place them on the shelf,
Then, I’ll go to bed.”
“Just a lot of worries in my head
My eyes were streaming years of dread, she said.
Just a lot of letters in my head
I’d like to write them down in red.
Just a lot of words in my head
Place them on the shelf,
Then, I’ll go to bed.”
“Just a lot of love in my head,
That’s why I paint hearts, she said.
Just a lot of worries in my head,
My eyes were streaming years of dread.
Just a lot of letters in my head
I’d like to write them down in red.
Just a lot of words in my head
Place them on the shelf,
Then, I’ll go to bed.”
“Just a lot of children in my head,
Many a night they cuddled in my bed.
Just a lot of love in my head,
That’s why I paint hearts, she said.
Just a lot of worries in my head
My eyes were streaming years of dread.
Just a lot of letters in my head
I’d like to write them down in red.
Just a lot of words in my head
Place them on the shelf,
Then, I’ll go to bed.”
Just a lot of dreaming in my head,
I’d like to string them on golden thread
With lights and stars around my bed.
Just a lot of children in my head,
Many a night they cuddled in my bed.
“Just a lot of life in my head
Place it gently on the shelf, she said,
Then, I’ll go to bed.”

Your creativity amazes me! I love the way this poem builds and my favorite lines are brilliant.
Just a lot of dreaming in my head,
I’d like to string them on golden thread
With lights and stars around my bed.
Beautiful!
Thank you so much!!! It’s unlike anything I have written before. I was inspired by the sculpture that sits in the lobby of the Crosby Street Hotel in Soho.
